Auditions — Section Violin 1, Section Viola, and Section/Principal Bass
We are currently accepting applications for the following openings:
- Section Violin 1 (3 Positions)
- Section Viola (2 Positions)
- Section/Principal Bass (2 Positions)
Recorded Audition Process
To make the audition process more accessible and flexible for both candidates and the audition committee, these auditions will be conducted through recorded video submissions rather than traditional in-person auditions.
The recorded process allows candidates to complete their audition around their own schedules while helping us navigate the challenges of coordinating appropriate audition space, candidate availability, and committee and staff schedules.
What to Submit
Candidates should submit one video containing their complete audition. The recording must be one continuous, unedited take.
- MP4 or MOV files recorded on a phone are acceptable.
- Please submit only one video file.
- Do not splice together multiple recordings or otherwise edit the performance.
- Please ensure that your performance and audio are clearly captured throughout the recording.
Submission Deadline
Friday, October 9, 2026
All audition recordings must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 9.
Anonymous Review
We are committed to maintaining an anonymous evaluation process.
After submission, the Personnel Manager, who is not a member of the audition committee, will review each video solely to verify that it is a single, continuous, unedited take. Video recordings will not be shared with the audition committee.
Once a recording has been verified:
- The audio will be extracted from the video.
- Each recording will be assigned a randomly generated audition ID (e.g.,
AUD_001). - The audition committee will receive only anonymized audio files identified by audition ID.
- Candidate names and other identifying submission information will not be available to the committee during the initial evaluation process.
The extracted audio will be provided as high-quality WAV files for consistent playback across submissions. The conversion process will not include editing, enhancement, normalization, or other changes to the performance.
