(GREENSBURG) The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s youth orchestra program (WYSO), will present its fall concert on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. at Seton Hill Performing Arts Center in Greensburg. The concert is free and open to the public, donations are accepted. “This has been a truly exciting semester at the Academy! We welcomed the entire program under one roof at Seton Hill University, nearly doubled our enrollment, and for the first time in several years brought back our youngest group, the String Ensemble. I am extremely proud of the incredible progress the students have made this semester, and look forward to sharing their successes with their friends, family, and the community,” said Adam Gillespie, Academy Director.
A night of orchestral fun awaits as the WYSO String Ensemble, composed of talented elementary school musicians under the expert guidance of conductor Sarah Ferrell, opens the evening. Following their performance, the Philharmonia, led by conductor Jorie Butler-Geyer, share in many of our musicians’ first experiences playing in a full orchestra. The grand finale, conducted by Academy Director Adam Gillespie, will be presented by the Philharmonic. The evening’s performance includes works by Beethoven, Grieg, Strauss Jr., and more.
