The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra presents its annual Home for the Holidays concert of choral and instrumental holiday pops on Saturday, December 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Palace Theatre, Greensburg.

The concert is guest conducted by Andrés Franco and features Sleigh Ride, Selections from the Nutcracker, a Holiday Sing-Along, Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, and many more. “As a former educator and choir director Home for the Holidays is one of my favorite concerts because it gives the choir a chance to perform with a professional orchestra, it’s a wonderful experience for all involved. The concert is a tradition for Greensburg, full of favorite carols and holiday music, and is a perfect festive night out to gather friends and family together,” said WSO Executive Director Michael Rozell.

The All-Star Choir of Westmoreland County, directed by Chris Bartley joins the Westmoreland Symphony in performing What Sweeter Music, Merry Christmas from Home Alone and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The choir is made up of 65 students from area schools including Belle Vernon, Connellsville, Derry, Franklin-Regional, Greater Latrobe, Hempfield, Kiski, Mt. Pleasant and Norwin, Penn-Trafford, Yough high schools, and singers from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.

Guest Conductor Andrés Franco served five seasons as Music Director of Tulsa’s Signature Symphony and Resident Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony. He has also served as Associate, then Resident Conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony, and Music Director of the Kansas City Philharmonia. He is the inaugural Executive Director of DNAWORKS, an organization dedicated to dialogue and healing through the arts.
