The 56th season opens with a vibrant celebration of American music, featuring selections from Leonard Bernsteinβs beloved βWest Side Story,” and Aaron Coplandβs Clarinet Concerto performed by Michael Rusinek, principal clarinet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The evening also includes Nkeiru Okoyeβs Voices Shouting Out, a moving musical response to 9/11 and Hansonβs lyrical Symphony No 2. Celebrate opening night with the WSO as we honor the rich musical heritage of the United States.
