Concertmaster Auditions

The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra announces an audition for the position of Concertmaster.

The Concertmaster serves as leader of the orchestra and plays a central artistic leadership role, working closely with the Music Director and musicians to support the ensemble’s musical excellence and cohesion.

Founded in 1969, the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra (WSO) has grown into a cornerstone of musical performance and education in the Westmoreland region. Guided over the decades by distinguished artistic leadership and sustained by strong community support, the WSO presents a full season of classical, pops, and holiday programming—including the region’s only live-orchestra Nutcracker within a four-hour radius of Greensburg—while maintaining a deep commitment to education through initiatives such as the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra, Young Artists Solo & Ensemble Festival, Academy of Music, and outreach programming. Now in its 57th season under the leadership of Artistic Director Daniel Meyer, the WSO continues its mission to promote musical enrichment through high-quality performances and educational opportunities for audiences and musicians of all ages.

The contracted WSO season includes four MasterWorks (classical) concerts, two popular programming concerts, two performances of The Nutcracker, and one Home for the Holidays concert. Additional performances throughout the year include a chamber music series, Young People’s Concerts, and the Summer Sparklers series.
