Join us for our final concert of the season – Gabriel Fauré’s exquisite Requiem.  Fauré wrote the seven-section work between 1887-1890 and the first version premiered in La Madeleine in Paris.  The 60-member WSO Chamber Singers, directed by Marc Tourre, performs John Rutter’s arrangement of Requiem with the full orchestra. The evening begins with John Corigliano’s Elegy, composed for a love scene in an off-broadway play in 1966 and dedicated in memory of Samuel Barber.  The second work is Georges Bizet’s elegant Symphony in C written when he was a young 17-year-old student at the Paris Conservatoire but the work was never performed during his lifetime – it was later discovered and first debuted in 1933. Read the program notes here to learn more about the composers and music.
