WYSO Philharmonia

February 16 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:30am on Saturday, repeating until April 27, 2019

The Philharmonia give students their first experience playing in a large ensemble that includes strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion.  The young students learn to follow a conductor and have the chance to perform with other musicians in a friendly group setting.

String students should be comfortable in first and third positions, have a solid knowledge of note values, dynamics, key signatures, and be able to play major scales up to 3 sharps and flats. Members should be taking privates lessons. Winds and brass are encouraged to audition. For strings, an audition is optional, but doing so allows for better chair placement. At a minimum, we need a recommendation from a private teacher or band and the equivalent of Suzuki books III-IV. Learn More
