|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 11:00am on Thursday, repeating until April 26, 2018

Pre-registration required, call the Library: 724-547-3850

This mini-music appreciation course, offered in four class sessions, is designed to introduce people to the world of classical music or serve as a refresher course for those somewhat
knowledgeable about classical music.

It explores the four basic periods of classical music – Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary. Emphasis is placed on recognizing the various style periods and learning terminologies that improve one’s knowledge and appreciation for what is happening in the music. The goal is to have the listener be more comfortable when listening to classical music.

The instructor is Morrie Brand, (pictured) Director of the Westmoreland Symphony’s Academy of Music and Music Director of the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra Program.

He is a former college music teacher and professional musician with St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, now an active music teacher and composer. He served as Managing Director of the WSO from 2000 until 2017.
