‘London Calling’ coming to Greensburg’s Palace Theatre Tribune Review
Artistic Director Daniel Meyer returns to conduct a program of music inspired by London and the beauty and complexity of the British isle. Young Concert Artist Cicely Parnas, cello, performs Elgar’s last major work for orchestra –Cello Concerto. The concert begins with Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 “The Clock,” a work finished in London in 1794 that gets its nickname from the andante’s ticking accompaniment. The concert concludes with Maxwell Davies’ An Orkney Wedding, with Sunrise – a musical postcard of a Scottish wedding, featuring a solo bagpiper.
